This study aimed to investigate the co-registration analysis of 18F-fluorodopa and 18F-flurodeoxyglucose PET images to visualize the difference between Parkinson’s disease and MSA-P. We enrolled 29 Parkinson’s disease patients, 28 MSA-P patients, and 10 healthy controls, who underwent both 18F-fluorodopa and 18F-flurodeoxyglucose PET scans.

Fluorodopa F 18 Injection is indicated for use in positron emission tomography (PET) to visualize dopaminergic nerve terminals in the striatum for the evaluation of adult patients with suspected Parkinsonian syndromes (PS). WebMD explains how PET scans are used to assess brain function in Parkinson's disease patients. A positron emission topography (PET) scan is a test used to give doctors and their patients more information about how the cells in your body ar

Depending on where you live and the facility you use, a conventional PET scan may cost anywhere from $1,000 to $2,000. For a whole-body PET-CT scan, the price can jump well above $6,000. Fluorodopa F 18 is the amino acid analog fluorodopa (FDOPA) labeled with fluorine F 18, a positron-emitting isotope, with potential tumor tracer property. Fluorine F 18 fluorodopa is able to cross the blood-brain barrier and is taken up by brain tumor cells. Positron emission tomography (PET) is a functional imaging technique that uses radioactive substances known as radiotracers to visualize and measure changes in metabolic processes, and in other physiological activities including blood flow, regional chemical composition, and absorption.
